Dr Jan Borén, MD, is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Head of the Institute of Medicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and a physician at the Department of Clinical Chemistry at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. His translational research centers on lipid metabolism, understanding the mechanisms and consequences of lipid accumulation in the liver, arterial wall and heart to enable improved diagnosis, prevention and treatment, supported by extensive in vitro, in vivo and human kinetic studies.
